A RARE 18TH C CENTURY EARLY AMERICAN New England CANDLESTAND IN CHERRY NICE
For sale is an authentic 18th century New England spider-legged candle stand in cherry. It measures 29 tall, with a rectangle top and shaped corners. The top measures approximately 14 by 19. The top has two hairline cracks but the seam is very tight and hard to tell from the top down photo. You can tell looking from the bottom of the board See the last photo where My fingers point out the two seams. Three beautifully turned legs have no cracks or losses. It stands steadily, no wobble on a flat floor.
The center pillar had some short old cracks. They are stable, unlikely to spread further, nothing unusual. The table top has original surface and in good cosmetic condition, with very minimal scratches.
Overall, the stand is sturdy, elegant in form, and all original. They say that the item is late 18th century CT craftsmanship. I dont know the exact estate this piece came out of.
