Antique Very Rare Curious Iron Chastity Belt 18 th Cent Nice Age Patina. Museum Object very Decorative and Collectible. Height about 27 cm (10,62 inches) total and width 38 x 34 cm (14.96 x 13.38) size can be adjusted. A chastity belt is a locking item of clothing historically designed for women, to prevent sexual intercourse. Their purpose was to ensure chastity, in order to protect women from rape or to dissuade women and their potential sexual partners from sexual temptation.

By continuous long-term wear it certainly have caused genitourinary infection, abrasive wounds, sepsis and eventual death. The design of the chastity belt was said to have varied by region, though they all had the same basic design.

The belts were supposedly often made of metal, though some had leather straps to attach around the waist or like a pair of metal underwear, with small holes for waste excretion.
