Bottles are even rarer tha n the milk glass (Owl Drug) bottles, which in themselves are becoming increasingly hard to find! This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand B lown I nto M old bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating it all the way back to very early 1900. Bottle embossed on back shoulder : The Owl Drug Co. Then on the front of the bottle it is embossed with a picture of an owl perched on a druggists' mortar, stirring a pestle.

The mortar is embossed with, " TODCo / TRADE MARK ". TODCo = T he O wl D rug Co. Condition : This bottle is in SHINY CLEAN condition. It may have just a trace of age wear, but NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. Please see picture for idea of bottle's general condition.

Age : An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand-blown bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-top, ca. These amber owl bottles seem to getting harder to find. Both the eye appeal and rarity of these bottles is high. Though you rarely see them in any size, there are a total of 7 (seven) distinctly different sizes that these come in! Starting with the ultra-rare half ounce size that is only 2 1/2 inches tall, they go up in height to 3 1/4 inches tall, 4", 4 1/2", 5", 6 3/4" and an 7 3/4, a total of 7 different sizes.

It took one die-hard collector over 30 years to find a mint example of the 7 3/4 inch size available for sale. T he two largest sizes are possibly into the 4 figure range if you can find one for sale. T he amber bottles were made in this color for a reason; to protect certain types of pharmaceutical products from the light.

Thus the amber glass was used to protect the contents from bright lights. It seems like most of the amber examples we've seen with label's, contained some type of oils (cotton seed, cedar, juniper, linseed, etc). The label on this bottle IS ORIGINAL, it is NOT a copy or facsimile of an old label, it is an old label! We put our 30+ years of experience in antiques to use in describing every item we list.
