FARQUHAR "Earth in Space" Globe Celestial Transparent Globe Rare Nice! Obtained from an estate, this transparent celestial globe is quite rare and in excellent condition having been in boxed storage for some time. The Robert Farquhar co was based in Philadelphia, Pa.

And produced high quality transparent globes. This globe called "Earth in Space" is a model with a Earth Globe within a surrounding clear gridded globe (approx 16) representing the stars. It has a small yellow ball mounted on a moveable arm which represents the sun. It is a 3 dimensional geocentric model with the earth at the center and stars of varying distance from the earth projected onto the surrounding transparent outer gridded sphere.

This transparent, 3 color, star globe is made of acrylic with all printing on the inside surface. The printing is read by looking through the globe to the far side.

In this manner the globe corresponds to the arching sky or or the planetarium view. Approximately 1100 stars to a 4.5 magnitude.

Yellow dots of 7 sizes represent the stars showing relative brightness within the constellation area. The 6 rotatable, colored transparent Earth globe mounted inside the star globe can be shown for any time of the day any day of the year from any place on earth. It comes with it's original stand/cradle. Also included is it's rare original instruction booklet (where some of this description comes from)that helps you understand and manipulate this modern celestial model gem.
